Malibu’s ‘pyramid house’ sold recently, fetching just over $2 million. According to the Los Angeles times, the buyer was, at one time, an exec at Warner Bros.
Not everyone is looking for a pyramid-shaped home, of course, and public records appear to indicate that the property was over two years on the market this time around, having been listed by its now-previous owner in February of 2018, with a $3.1 million ask. That figure had dropped to a little less than $2.3 million prior to the sale.
The house dates to 1982, when new-agery was just ramping up as a U.S. spiritual fashion. Its façade is embellished with an octagonal skylight.
The shape of the house offers a remarkable sense of interior proportion that is sustained by a freestanding spiral staircase, the stone floors and plank ceiling, and a bank of windows at the far end of the structure. Canyon views are stunning, and the master terrace makes sure they don’t go to waste in the home’s bedroom sanctuary.
The cul-de-sac location is ideal for privacy. And the lot’s a large one—well over two acres, with gardens, an orchard, and of course patios overlooking the views from the top of the hill.
