Carissa Davino’s rise to prominence in the world of weed may not make for quite as interesting a story as Nancy Botwin’s, but it did purchase this $9 million contemporary modern home in the Lower Bird Streets neighborhood of Los Angeles.

The house went up in 2018, and is a thoroughgoing concept home; finishes and materials are excellent throughout, and perfectly tuned to contemporary upscale tastes. Matte-finished, natural-toned plank floors, a floating staircase with a glass balustrade, and a massive black marble accent wall inset with a lengthy double-sided gas fireplace distinguish the shared living space.

Pocketing glass is a constant throughout the home, and many spaces offer the option of opening to an interior/exterior lifestyle. A great deal of care went into the home, with the kitchen’s custom cabinetry, waterfall island, espresso bar and wine storage standing out as particularly selective.

The exterior of the home uses timber as an accent material frequently, but nowhere as effectively as on the 1,000 square-foot roof deck, where a spa and wet bar combine to offer a sharp 30-something businessperson the upscale L.A. lifestyle amid significant city views.
