Swiss watchmaker Audemars Piguet’s newer contributions to the world of horology and fashionable, functional wristwear includes the [Re]master01.
In keeping with the name, the watch is both a return and a revision. The timepiece cited by the [Re]master01 is a singular chronograph model from 1943; its homage has been produced as a celebratory entry for the brand and the opening of its watch museum in Le Brassus.
The new watch is slightly larger than the old, and offers a little more protection from sudden submersion. The chronograph mechanism is automatic instead of manual. But it does carry the look and spirit of the original, and could easily be mistaken for your grandfather’s timepiece. A champagne-colored dial, deco features, and a case made from a blend of steel and pink gold are its standout features.
Audemars Piguet is limiting production of the [Re]master01 to just 500 examples. The timepiece is priced at $53K.
