The New Providence Island, Bahamas, getaway built by Jack Heinz is for sale. The house in Lyford Cay—a gated community on the Western tip of the island—is asking $5.5 million.

The property is called Minor Cay—another Heinz residence had been named Major Sound—and at one time Jackie Onassis was among the regular guests who sought sanctuary here. The home was designed according to the wishes of Heinz’s wife. Its 5,740 square feet of living space are distributed across three floors.

The interiors of the five-bedroom house were renovated in 2017. Its layout puts the great room on the second floor—a central location that highlights this home’s original purpose: entertaining overnight guests. The living style is, of course, breezy and casual, with plank ceilings, cane blinds, louvered shutters, ceiling fans, hardwood and stone tile floors, and outdoor balconies a-plenty. Two kitchens allow guests easy access to midnight snacks.

The home is designed with swimming pools on three sides, and lawns and tropical flora allows substantial privacy. The large second-floor terrace surveys the grounds, and the Lyford Golf Course which is right next door.
