Designer Phillipe Stark represents furniture firm B&B Italia very well, creating a series of ebulliently sunny weatherproof pieces for indoor/outdoor use just in time for the warm season.
The collection is called Oh It Rains, and it may be the first collaboration between Stark and the modern furniture specialist, but it surely won’t be the last. Spirited in form just as it is in name, the sofa and armchair feature, as a design centerpiece, a uniquely innovative fold-over backrest that employs a mechanical joint to transition the pieces into rain-protected mode.
The materials used are ecologically relevant, and given an earthy tonal palette that suggests mid-20th century textiles. The sections may be broken down for proper recycling when, years down the road, the pieces are no longer useful.
