Tim Armstrong—a former CEO of AOL—put his primary residence up for sale this month with an asking price of $26.8 million. The estate is nestled into a quiet coastal neighborhood of aristocratic Greenwich, Connecticut.
The house was designed by prominent Connecticut-based architectural firm Shope Reno Wharton. It was completed in 2009.
A winged design gives the home a presence befitting its landscape. A shingled roof, multiple stone chimneys and stone accents and plentiful glass that is not disproportionate with the other elements of the exterior.
The interiors are the product of an incredibly refined vision. The palette is off-white with judicious use of black as an accent and contrast tone, with glossy floors adding a little glamour to the proceedings; a very understated warm tone sneaks in periodically. An entertainment room with a wet bar occupies part of the walk-out lower level.
The home’s exterior living area is remarkable; the setting a classically appealing stretch of quiet, saline-tinged East Coast upper crust. Views of Tod’s Point are superb from the terrace, and an infinity-edge pool puts the finishing touch on the grounds.
