Nigel Lythgoe—professional hoofer, and arbiter of hoofing technique—put his residence in Bel-Air up for sale this week. The traditional-style home is priced at $13 million.
The property is large, and it boasts romantic gardens which definitively classify it as escapist. There’s enough space on the lot to accommodate the main house, a guest house, a pool and sunlounge, a covered, elevated living space, and a fair-sized stretch of lawn without feeling cramped.
The main house measures just over 5,200 square feet, and boasts interiors that strike a nice balance between traditional and contemporary. It was built in the 1930s, and details original to that era shine through here and there, most notably the narrow-plank hardwood floors. The living style is casual, but refined.
The master suite—one of the four bedrooms in the home—gets a lot of attention in the listing. The bedroom is well-proportioned and boasts a fireplace, and the bathroom, one of seven in the house, is as lavish as expected. The walk-in closet and dressing room is something special, however, and needs to be seen to be appreciated.
Lythgoe has been nominated for five Emmy Awards during his career. In 2014, he took home the Ellis Island International Medal of Honor.
