Koenigsegg Jesko Pushed to the ‘Absolut’ Limit

The Koenigsegg Jesko may’ve sold out in an almost unbelievably short period of time—the $3 million, 1,600-horsepower luxury performance car’s 125 examples were all spoken for within a month of the model’s introduction at last year’s Geneva Auto Show—but the Swedish hypercar designer and builder recently revealed a second one-off Jesko that carries on the model’s name.

Koenigsegg showed off its talent with a one-off Jesko variant called the ‘Red Cherry Edition’; that car was built for a customer last summer. This particular edition is called the ‘Absolut’, and Koenigsegg has designed it to be the final word on street legal speed demons, and perhaps the final word on the Jesko as well.

For more than ten years, Koenigsegg and Bugatti have been duking it out for the honor of designing and building the fastest road car, playing a game of leapfrog, each besting the other in turn. Recent battles include a Koenigsegg Agera’s record run in 2017, to 284.6 MPH, and a Bugatti Chiron’s blazing 304.8 MPH performance late last summer.

The Jesko Absolut is made to bring the mantle home to Sweden once again. It features the ‘Light Speed’ gearbox, the innovative transmission that jumps unnecessary gears when needed, and was a feature that made the original Jesko such a winner at Geneva 2019. Whether or not it can best the Bugatti’s speed record remains to be seen.
