Larry Allen, who helped the Dallas Cowboys take home Super Bowl rings in 1996, sold his home in the Bay Area this month at an amount that registers as substantially under the initial ask: Allen’s acceptance of a $4 million offer stands in stark contrast to the $7.5 million listing price. And, as he paid $4.6 million for it in 2004, the selling price also doesn’t amount to a significant return.
But it is sold, and that’s something.
The 10,000 square-foot Mediterranean-style house is situated within a golf community in Danville. Its shared living spaces are occasionally grandiose, and sometimes quite cozy. The two-story great room with four-sided second-floor gallery is massive, and very impressive, and may be classed in the former category; the master bedroom, which boasts a sunny sitting room in a window bay, might be classed in the latter.
The home’s exterior living spaces include an indoor/outdoor spa room. Floored in brick pavers and sporting a gas fireplace, it is anchored by a large marble tub, and may be the gem of the recreation spaces.
Allen spent a dozen years playing for Dallas. He moved to San Francisco to play with the 49ers in 2005, and retired two years later.
