Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw producer Steve Chasman listed his Pacific Palisades estate early last autumn with an asking price of $16.9 million. Apparently the fish weren’t biting at the end of 2019, even with a bit of fire in the L.A. housing market, and early 2020 yielded no acceptable offers either.
But a nearly $2 million price chop might do the trick for the 1.2-acre Riviera-like pocket of bliss, and the 6,185 square-foot villa that crowns it.
The home is wedged into a hillside with a moderate gradient, and from the outset plays the part of a Mediterranean villa quite well, with a fountain centerpiece in the motor court, semi-tropical landscaping, and stone balustrades hemming in the terraces.
The six-bed, six-bath home’s interiors are warm, but boast a largesse of spirit; no surprises, but the feel is established and sustained beautifully. Some of the details are unusually fine, and the grain of the oak plank floors, the French fireplace in the living room, the vaulted ceilings, the many arches, and the French doors and fanlight windows accumulate into a relaxed and refined living style.
There’s much to commend the property outside, as well. The terraces that look over the hillside and survey the ocean help put the finishing touch on this secluded and peaceful spot.
