An Upper East Side, Manhattan townhome that was, at one time, occupied by Eleanor Roosevelt has come up for sale for $20 million.

The residence is one of eight townhouses designed and built by architects Buchman and Deisler at the turn of the last century in Lenox Hill. The firm’s projects in the city also include rows on 70th and 71st.

The 74th Street properties are all designed in the neo-renaissance style, with the townhome in question being the jewel of the lot. The building’s façade features a unique bowed embellishment, intricate carved limestone, and an entrance flanked by Ionic columns.

The residence’s living space spans 7,500 square feet, with six bedrooms and six baths throughout its five above-ground floors. Its basement level is currently purposed as a home office and utility space.

The house is packed with original details, including ornate crown moldings and original fireplaces and fireplace surrounds. Its master suite occupies the entire third floor. Exterior living spaces include a small garden-level backyard, and a large roof deck.

Roosevelt lived in the building from 1959 to 1962.
