Emmy Award-winning actress Melissa McCarthy and husband Ben Falcone picked up this heavily renovated pre-WWII cottage in Los Angeles this winter.
The house wasn’t on the market for long; public records indicate that it listed initially toward the end of January with an asking price of $2.189 million. When all was said and done, McCarthy and Falcone spent $2.4 million on the property—about $200K above ask. A desirable house.
As it stands, the home is the end product of a heavy renovation, but the original 1936 bungalow is in there, underneath the postmodern farmhouse embellishments that now dominate the streetside impression.
The interiors are warm and very contemporary. The shared living space is wide open, with satin-finished plank hardwood, wood trim, built-ins, and white walls and ceilings. Skylights have been added to the house, and are a pleasing surprise when spotted.
There are four bedrooms and four baths in the home’s 2,800 square feet. The master features a gently vaulted ceiling, adequate walk-in closet space, and a bath with a fair amount of marble; the bedroom opens to the patio and pool area.
McCarthy has earned a pair of Academy nods in her career thus far, one for 2011’s Bridesmaids, the other for 2018’s Can You Ever Forgive Me? She and Falcone founded On the Day Productions about seven years ago.
