The BAC Mono is back. What’s new for the street-legal track car, which is now in its second generation?

A redesigned body, for one. The Mono is tighter and more concise from bow to stern, which improves responsiveness and aerodynamics. There’s a great deal of carbon fiber involved, including floor and panels, and nearly all design considerations put weight high on the list; even the wheels, which weigh less than 5 pounds each.

This BAC Mono sports a new engine, as well. The turbocharged powerplant is a 2.3L four, which produces 332 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, enough muscle to make the 1,250 pound car a veritable rocket. And the engine is efficient enough, BAC tells us, to meet European emissions standards.

This new Mono can do the dash to 60 MPH in just 2.7 seconds, and reach a top speed of 170. All this newness comes with a new price tag, though, which translates at present exchange rates to over $200K.
