Beach Boys founding member Mike Love is asking $8.65 million for this 17,500 square foot mansion in Rancho Santa Fe. The property occupies nearly 3.4 acres in Fairbanks Ranch, and offers panoramic views of the ocean, mountains, and golf course. According to public records, Love has owned the home since 1994, and paid $3.25 million for it.
The modern Mediterranean’s footprint is a big one, and the home begins in a suitably grandiose fashion, with a double staircase in the foyer, and accents in wrought iron and multicolored stone leading to the rest of the house.
A few of the rooms are nearly breathtaking; the master suite, of course, is one of them, and both bedroom and bath are worth a look. Love and his wife revised the home; the kitchen received a lot of attention during the overhaul, and shows some unusual material choices that make it a standout space.
The property’s exterior living areas are as unique. Terraces, exterior staircases, tropical landscaping, balconies, a summer kitchen, a covered dining area, and loggias make for a seemingly never-ending complex of easygoing, relaxed outdoor lounge options. A large pool features an island with a fire feature and spa.
Love co-founded the Beach Boys in 1961. He continues to tour and record; his latest studio effort, ‘12 Sides of Summer’, was released last year.
