Alfa Romeo’s newest limited-edition car harkens back to the company’s mid-1960s classics, specifically the 1965 Giulia Sprint GT. Alfa is calling it the Giulia Quadrifoglio GTA, and it’s intended to be a compact grand tourer, one designed more for intense performance driving than weekend jaunts to a specific destination: it’s a hobbyist’s racer, even if it is street legal.
The two-seater is light—its curb weight is 3,350 pounds—and quite powerful; Alfa has eked 540 horsepower out of the 2.9L V6 engine. The exhaust system is a new titanium package that improves airflow, and Sauber Engineering’s aero-designing acumen has put a decidedly performance-ready edge on the little blade of a car.
Carbon fiber components include the drive shaft, the seats, and the rear wing. The car can reach 60 MPH from a standstill in just 3.6 seconds.
Production of the Giuliu Quadrifoglio GTA is limited to 500 examples. Each will be numbered for collectors.
