Swedish hypercar designer and builder Koenigsegg was going to take to this year’s automotive exposition in Geneva to reveal their new four-seater, the Gemera, a variety of grand tourer—one that can accommodate the nuclear family—but the show was canceled. No matter, Koenigsegg let the world have a look at the new model anyway.
It was only a year ago that Koenigsegg revealed the 300-MPH Jesko at the Geneva show. The Gemera can’t manage the Jesko’s top speed, but it may be the quickest Koenigsegg to enter production: its 0-62 time, the company claims, is a blistering 1.9 seconds. And its top speed of 248 MPH should suffice for the alpha family that’ll use it, getting them to their Valtournenche vacation with time to spare.
The ICE in Koenigsegg’s newest has diminished in size, and the model allots most of its horsepower duties to electric motors; the Gemera’s gas engine is a three-cylinder, and its three electric motors provide 1,100 of its 1,700 horsepower. The car’s torque rating is an astonishing 2,600 pound-feet.
Inside the Gemera, the look is creature comfort combined with sport aesthetic. There are infotainment screens for front and back seats, three-zone climate control, and cup holders galore. Plentiful luggage space means all occupants can take along all necessary accoutrements for a weekend away.
Koenigsegg hasn’t mentioned price as of yet. The Jesko’s sticker price, however, was $3 million—before it sold out.
