In the high summer of 2014, Katie Holmes purchased this house in Calabasas for $3.8 million. She listed it in November of last year, with an asking price of $4.625 million, and didn’t have to wait terribly long for an acceptable offer. In the latter half of February, the home closed for just over four million dollars.
The house is styled as a contemporary European manor, leaning toward French in architecture, and boasts a hipped roof, a few Tudor details, and stacked stone accents; a second-floor terrace off the rear of the home looks decidedly contemporary, though.
The interiors mix past and present tense as well, with antiqued or rusticated plank hardwood on one end of the spectrum, and a bright, modern layout with modern fixtures on the other. The open concept kitchen, family room and dayroom feels like the heart of the home, although the master suite, which features a private sitting room and French doors to the terrace, makes a compelling case for itself.
The lot extends to slightly less than half an acre, and is situated snug against a hillside; a very private and quiet location. A pool with fountain jets, lawns, and privacy landscaping completes the living style.
Holmes’ recent roles include a leading part in this year’s Coda; the film also stars Patrick Stewart.
