Carlex Gives the Mercedes-Benz X-Class a Stylish Sendoff

Esteemed automotive design studio Carlex had a last crack at an X-Class before the model goes the way of the dodo this spring.

The X-Class was an experiment: a Mercedes pickup truck. Mercedes is far too canny to make a habit of misfiring, but the X-Class does represent that rare occurrence. The pickup was marketed in Europe, Australia, Latin America, and South Africa. But sales were dismal; it was simply too expensive.

But the X-Class did provide fertile ground for a tuning shop, and with two Final Editions the folks at Carlex pull out all the stops for both off-roaders and road-goers. A Line-X coated body kit, a flashy red or black color scheme, plentiful carbon fiber, a Lazer roof light bar, and custom interiors top the list of tuner-esque flourishes.
