Back in the summer of 2018, Demi Lovato listed her contemporary farmhouse style home in Los Angeles for $9.5 million. She dropped the price to $9 million after about three weeks on the market, and has held fast since, despite the necessity of two relists and even a rental offer at $40K/month in the meantime. The property resurfaced on the open market again this month, again asking $9 million.
The four-bedroom, seven-bath home is located on a small promontory, allowing for excellent views. It dates to 1979, and was almost certainly a glassy, boxy modern before it was reborn as a postmodern mix of industrial and farmhouse styles. The exterior tonal scheme is dramatic: white with black accents, beginning with a starkly unornamented, flat black driveway gate that opens to an asphalt motor court.
The 5,600 square feet of interiors are generally as wide open as one might expect after a quick look at the outside of the home. A double-height ceiling in the great room, a series of towering clerestories, and a staircase with a solid balustrade that rises against the outside wall all set an impressive sense of scale. The upper floor shared space now houses a small sitting area and an adjacent games room.
At over an acre, the lot is fairly large. A pool and sunlounge, patio space, and a meandering footpath leading down the hill to an intimate little cabana occupy much of the space, with the home’s rooftop deck a best-case option for quieter evenings closer to home.
