It took four years, but Miami Marlins player Matt Kemp recently sold his home in Poway, California. The outfielder took a mighty hit on the transaction—the selling price was $4.3 million against his 2013 purchased costs of over $9 million—but what had become a lengthy and frustrating process has been concluded.

Kemp initially listed the estate in 2016, after the Padres traded him to the Braves. He hoped for $11.5 million when he first put the house up for sale. But, prior to the recent transaction, the ask had sunk to $4.99 million.

At very close to 16,000 square feet, and buttressed by a lot of over two and a half acres, the property is expansive inside and out. It is located within The Heritage, and situated on the Maderas golf course.

Within, the 2003-built home sports an opulently chilly feel. Distressed dark-finished plank hardwood runs throughout much of the home, and combines with off-white walls and ceilings for a dramatic look. By turns rustic and coolly contemporary, with ponderous concrete-like and metallic surfaces combining with exposed beams and exposed ceiling trussing, the home covers a lot of stylistic ground.

A five-bedroom layout leaves the shared living spaces with abundant room for entertaining, and the kitchen is more than capable of handling catered affairs.
