To start off 2020, Bang & Olufsen has revealed a new collection, one which involved the input of Copenhagen-based architecture and furniture design firm Norm Architects. The series is called the ‘Contrast Collection’, and it augments the Bang & Olufsen sound and clean, modern lines with new visuals, and brings a new sense into the B&O experience: touch.
The items included in the collection? Beoplay series speakers and headphones A1, A9, and H9, as well as Beosound units Edge, Stage, modular Shape, and Beosound 1 and 2 speakers are all given the Contrast treatment.
Materials used in the collection occasionally brush with the familiar; the company used Kvadrat-made material, but mixed different fibers to create a new blend that is thinner and a little silky. New visuals include contrasting earth tones, with wood, nut-brown leather and grays providing a naturalistic palette. The aluminum cases have been anodized to deliver a surface that is slightly rough to the touch, and softer in appearance.
Pricing for the collection is quite varied. The least expensive item is the on-the-go A1, tagged at $250, while the Edge starts at $3,500.
