Gifted professional hockey player Anze Kopitar has decided to put his Manhattan Beach residence on the open market. The Los Angeles Kings captain has priced the property at $2.95 million. According to public records, he bought it in 2008, and paid $1.9 million for it.
The house dates to the late 1990s, and sports Spanish-inflected exterior architecture. Within, though, its blend of traditional and modern design elements renders the living style warm, bright and inviting.
The 4,057 square footer features natural-toned oak plank floors in satin finish; the whole home, in fact, seems to be designed around an ideal of understated gloss and traditionally inviting, homey tropes borrowed from East Coast cottage style. The kitchen pulls off the effect masterfully, with blue-green tile blacksplashes and gray-blue and white cabinetry, with just enough figured stone to captivate without overwhelming.
The home’s accommodations extend to five bedrooms and five baths, with one suite set aside for overnight guests or maid’s quarters. The master receives a marble fireplace, and the breathing room provided by a vaulted ceiling and airy double-door balcony access.
No pool on the just under .2-acre lot, but there’s room for one—or for gardens and privacy landscaping, another nice approach to tackling an expanse of backyard.
Kopitar has played for the Kings since 2006. He has been honored two times with the Selke Trophy.
