Jason Statham and his wife Rosie Huntington-Whiteley—formerly a Victoria’s Secret model—listed their Malibu beach house about three months ago. The couple was hoping to net in the neighborhood of $20 million for the property, a not necessarily unreasonable expectation for a waterfront home situated in the exclusive Colony neighborhood of the seminal SoCal seaside burg.

And, when the property sold this month, the sale registered at $18.5 million; pretty darn close, and surely close enough.

The house is known as the Black House, but the flat black aesthetic is generally relegated to its exterior. Within, the home speaks fluent modern style, in a manner that is for the most part up-to-date. Plentiful wood—usually toned natural—greets the eye on a tour, with hardwood floors in a matter finish, floating shelves, and a master suite balcony lined in warm plank. The kitchen sports a bit ’o darkness, though, with cabinetry in not-quite-black hardwood.

An Eastern influence is present in the interior design style; the living style has overtones of meditative simplicity, and a Japanese lantern presides over the dining room table. The red brick fireplace in the living room presents a welcome bit of earth tone, immediately adding a dimension of both color and texture to the place.

The exterior living area includes a glass-enclosed deck. A private staircase descends to the beach.
