Back in 2016, rapper French Montana took this estate in Hidden Hills off Selena Gomez’s hands for $3.3 million. The property returned to the open market in the opening days of this year, with a difference: Montana is looking for a buyer willing to part with $6.599 million, or thereabouts, to take possession of it.
The five bedroom, six-bath home has naturally seen a to-taste brush-up at the hands of its present owner. Gone is the cumulative rainbow of tones preferred by Ms. Gomez; in place of such a comprehensive color scheme is a moodier execution, and built-ins and balustrades that had been rendered in natural or slightly enhanced wood tones have been painted black. The wildly garish chandelier also appears to be a more recent addition, and hangs down from the turret ceiling like a shimmering crystal stalactite.
The 7,800 square-footer is designed around a small courtyard, a little Mediterranean fantasy offering al-fresco potential and comfortable lounging on warm days and cool evenings. The lot is a big one; over three acres is ample space for a generous buffer zone, a pool and patio complex, and a bit of elephantine topiary.
