Charlie Sheen slimmed down his real estate portfolio this winter when an acceptable offer was submitted for his Beverly Hills villa-inspired pad.
The sale price was a full third under the peak ask, but public records indicate Mr. Sheen had been trying to sell the place since 2011, and that’s a long stretch on the market for any house in the storied city.
Sheen purchased the property in 2006, for $7.2 million. In the end, the sale price was $6.6 million, not bad for an 8,600 square footer on nearly half an acre in the 90210.
The home’s exterior architecture is sort of upscale suburban luxury Italianate, with a tile roof, a Juliet balcony, and an entrance boasting stone steps, flanked by a pair of stone planters, and accentuated by a quartet of ornamental columns. To the left and right, upper- and lower-floor sets of French doors open onto balconies or terraces; they are capped with fanlight windows, the outdoor space protected by stone balustrades. A triple-bay garage interrupts the Mediterranean fantasy established by the façade’s other details, giving the place a definite suburban feel, and a late-20th century postmodern overtone.
Inside the home, the Italianate pretentions fall away, and an emphasis on creature comforts and a laid-back living style emerges. A lounge with wet bar and extravagant master suite are highlights of the home, as integral to the home’s lifestyle ideal as the patio and pool complex with cabana bar that occupies a substantial chunk of the lot.
