Right before the holidays, rigorous fitness regimen guru Greg Glassman listed his getaway estate in Hawaii for sale. Nobody bought it as a gift, so it’s still for sale.
The entrepreneur and advocate of tough physiological self-love is asking $7 million for the retreat, which is located on the Garden Island, and extends to over five acres. It’s called Pu’uwai ‘O Kealia, according to the listing info. That is, Heart of Kealia.
The setting doesn’t contradict the contention of the name, or render it hyperbolic. Palms, grassy expanses, agricultural land, beach and ocean suggest the Edenic in the strongest possible terms.
The house was built in 2008, and mixes tropical plantation and cottage styles. Like any retreat in Hawaii, it puts the emphasis on setting and space, keeping the interiors simple. Some lovely plank hardwood is in evidence, and the kitchen’s vague hints at pastel, tongue-in-groove, and two-tier island make for a cheerful and laid-back room.
Amenities, of course, err on the side of the judiciously worthwhile; a sports court and a very large fitness studio take up considerable space on the property exterior, and inside the home. But the location, of course, is the real draw, an ideal spot for a quiet-seeker who loves nature.
