Ferrari’s track stars for 2020 include two new 488 entries: the 488 GT3 Evo, and the 488 Challenge Evo. What do they offer the hobbyist and professional track drivers?

The tech in both cars has been substantially updated, and that includes the GT3’s aero. Those familiar with the model will probably see that the wing vents are larger; this feature, as well as improved ABS, set a better high-speed performance profile. A new sport seat that drops a few pounds from the GT3’s curb weight is also onboard. The V8 hasn’t been tweaked, but it is controlled with updated software.

The shorter-wheelbase 488 Challenge Evo sports more dramatic changes—Ferrari claims that the car’s aero efficiency has been boosted by nearly a third with the 2020 Evo version of the track car; downforce, says the company, is up by a full 50%. That means big changes to the front, especially in the overhang and splitter.
