Uptown shoe brand Jimmy Choo co-founder Tamara Mellon didn’t have long to wait to sell her slickly contemporary downtown Manhattan condo.
The unit—a nearly 4,000 square foot condo in a complex a step or two on the eastern side of Greenwich Ave—was asking a hair under $20 million when it went up for sale in the late fall, and wound up changing hands just after Christmas for $18.8 million. Mellon paid $18.4 million for the place, according to public records, in late 2016.
The interiors are dominated by the drama of black-finished oak plank and a white treatment that errs on the side of softness. The standout space is the open-concept shared living area, which sets a loft-like sense of scale in keeping with the area; high windows, a long, post-industrial space, and plenty of glass.
A central gallery, a creative/lounge space, a warm, inviting kitchen, and a master with terrace access and a very large walk-in closet are also worth a look. The terrace adds nearly 13,000 square feet to the living space, and brings the Village, West Village and Flatiron views just a bit nearer.
Mellon sold Jimmy Choo in 2011, netting around a hundred mil in the deal.
