Married actors Adam Brody and Leighton Meester spent $6.5 million a few weeks ago for this heavily renovated traditional in Pacific Palisades.
Streetside, the house looks fairly unchanged from its previous life, with the exception of a barn-style set of garage doors. The back reveals some interesting massing: boxes stacked upon boxes, with plentiful glass opening to a variety of outdoor living spaces on terra firma, and above it too.
Inside the home, the traditional elements remain, but the interiors have been opened up to great effect. The first floor is given over to entertaining, with a large lounge area supported by a wet bar. On the second level, the living room and dining room flow as effortlessly into one another as the kitchen, dayroom and family room.
The 2,831 square foot house contains three bedrooms and just two baths, with the 3rd-floor master suite receiving a significant amount of attention in the remodel. Bedrooms open broadly to the upper floor terraces, which—even if they are tiled in an abstract pattern—are spacious, and make the best of a tight lot.
