‘…Kardashians’ fixture Scott Disick has a nose for a good flip, and the horse sense to invest in the gated equestrian-oriented community of Hidden Hills. He’s had a couple of successes doing the buy-overhaul-sell boogie in the neighborhood—the ranch he converted and sold for double his purchase price last year comes to mind—and the tail end of 2019 finds him once again finding a Hidden Hills home in dire need of a little TLC.
The case study in question is another ranch, a stodgy Spanish with an abundance of drearily heavy-handed 1970s style, some nice tile, and a very interesting layout. Fertile ground, then, for an overhaul and perhaps a million plus in the net when the dust settles.
The home’s exterior is rambling and hunkering, with a good amount of glass, and stucco walls rising to a shallow-pitched roof sporting the requisite clay roof tiles. Within, it opens up nicely, with a split-floor effect that gives the illusion of expanding the slightly more than 4,600 square feet of living space. The roof’s semi-vault is pretty dramatic, and lends perhaps too much of an enclosed feeling to the shared space, despite all else.
The 1977-build house clearly hasn’t been significantly renovated in…well, ever…but materials may make for an easy transition. The Saltillo that runs throughout the common area, exposed timber, and rough stucco might fare better with a few judicious alterations. But the kitchen looks like it was designed by Harvey Wallbanger; perhaps it was. Start there, Scott.
