Boston Bruins left wing Brad Marchant put down residential real estate roots in Beantown this month when he shelled out $3.55 million for a row house in the city’s historic Charlestown neighborhood.
The brownstone building dates to 1880, and features a lengthy series of charming eccentricities as proof positive of its vintage. Most appealing is the kitchen—with its period entry arch—and the upper-floor balcony accessible via a ladder staircase. Other standout details include solid oak floors, wainscoting, and abundant built-in storage and shelving.
The house extends to 4,840 square feet, with four bedrooms and four baths in its floorplan. An off-white treatment throughout the home has rendered it bright and invigorating, bedrooms included; the master is properly ebullient, then, with a small fireplace for cold-weather evening atmosphere.
Halifax-born Marchand began his professional hockey career playing in the AHL’s Providence Bruins. He has been with the real Bruins for about a decade.
