Professional athletes Aaron Rodgers, of the Green Bay Packers, and Danica Patrick, of the curving asphalt, picked up a domestic holiday gift for themselves this season. The couple presumably spent the holidays settling into a new West Coast getaway, a 1980-built Malibu contemporary Mediterranean-style that sapped $28 million from their collective pocketbook. The seller was singer-songwriter Robbie Williams and his actress wife Aya Field, who bought the property only last year for $20.25 million.
The stucco villa and its guesthouse are perched on a green, quiet knoll in the western corner of the city. The property features a pair of gates which lead to a courtyard as the 6/10-acre property blossoms.
According to the listing description, the 4,636 square-foot main house was designed in the style of a Palazzo; the façade looks the part, but the ocean side of the home opens to the beach in contemporary style via pocketing glass. A substantial owner’s suite with spa bath is the crown jewel of the accommodations, which are augmented via a 2-bed guesthouse of 600 square feet.
The shared living spaces flow to an expansive exterior terrace overlooking the hill and beach. There’s abundant room for both dining and lounging areas; most appealing is a little private lounge tucked away a few steps down the hill, which features a large, curving outdoor sofa. A large saltwater pool and private footpath to a quiet beach cove are among the exterior highlights of this property.
Rodgers led the Packers to Super Bowl glory in 2010. He signed a $134 million extension with them last year. Patrick notched a victory in the 2008 Indy Japan 300—the only win by a woman in an IndyCar Series race.
