Brie Larson is settling into a new bohemian-approved pad high in the hills above Malibu. The actress paid $3.4 million for the flat-roofed stucco house, which offers eagle’s nest canyon views.

The 1956-built home has been sensitively renovated, and retains the spirit of its era, when this corner of Malibu was a road less traveled. The feel is very rustic, with sandblasted wood ceilings, stone tile floors and, in the kitchen, custom cabinetry in what appears to be acacia, and limestone countertops. The common area features a double sliding glass door that opens onto a café terrace overlooking the canyon, with the ocean in the distance.

There are 3 bedrooms in the 2,100 square foot home; one of the 2 full baths is allotted to the master suite, which also features a fireplace and a slider opening onto a small terrace. The property’s hillside location allows for a tiered feel, placing the pool and sunlounge at a judicious remove from the main house, its spatial relation to the distant Pacific giving the spot a wonderfully far-flung feel.

Larson took home 2015’s Best Actress Academy Award for her role in ‘Room;’ more recent projects for the actress and director include the starring role in this year’s hit superhero flick, ‘Captain Marvel.’ The film grossed well over a billion dollars at the box office.
