T-Mobile CEO John Legere took time out from arguing the case for merging with Sprint in a Manhattan court this month to buy a $16.7 million waterfront estate on the Gulf Coast of Florida.

Legere set his sights on a 6,240 square-foot Florida contemporary in Naples that had been marketed at $18.5 million prior to the sale. The residence was built in 2011, and is located in the desirable Port Royal community.

There are 4 bedrooms and 7 baths in the villa, and a few striking details. Tops on the list are the glossy burl walnut cabinets, blue jeans granite and storage for 400 bottles in the kitchen, panoramic wall covering and a pale red ceiling in the dining room, and custom built-ins embossed with a harlequin-like diamond pattern.

Standout spaces in the house include the great room. The space rises through the upper floor and features an ornate carved stone fireplace and clerestories. The living room features a retractable glass wall; like most of the shared spaces in the house, it opens onto the lanai, where an outdoor fireplace, wet bar, gas grill, and zero-edge pool.

Legere has been CEO of T-Mobile since 2012. His tenure in the role is ending, however; last month, he announced that he will be stepping down from the position in the spring of next year.
