MLB legend Pedro Martinez crossed paths with another baseball pro this fall whilst house hunting in Miami-Dade County: the pitcher picked up shortstop Alcides Escobar’s high modern waterfront home in the city of North Miami, paying $3 million to take ownership of the 5,022 square-foot residence in the gated community of Sans Souci Estates. Escobar, for his part, paid $2.65 million for the property in 2017.

The house dates to 2014, and is situated on a cul-de-sac. Its exterior is a complex homage to the modern style, with tower and series windows, stacked stone accents, and playfully intersecting planes as ornaments streetside, and a rear face featuring plentiful glass and a second-floor terrace with canal views.

The property boasts electric windows and smart home features. There are 6 bedrooms and 7 baths in its layout. Industrial design elements combine with luxury materials and contemporary styles, with an adventurous series of ceiling light fixtures, LED strip accents, textured wall covering, glossy marble floors, a floating steel staircase, and highly figured wood combining in the interiors.

The lot is about two-tenths of an acre. The outdoor living area includes a small but very adequate pool, a grill station, and a large dock.

Eight-time All Star Martinez is still missed in Boston. He won the pitching Triple Crown in 1999.
