‘Brady Bunch’ alum Barry Williams sold his Malibu beach house this month, taking in $5.82 million before fees. Mr. Williams—who played elder sibling Greg on the iconic 1970s domestic chronicle—had a bear of a time selling the home, listing it initially on the open market in 2016 for $7.15 million, according to public records.
The house had been in Williams’ family for over four decades; his parents had it built in the early 1970s, settling in the area to presumably make young Barry’s commute a painless one. The home features late modern/early contemporary architecture, with a symmetrical façade, plank cladding, a pair of triangular roof lights, and a front entrance flanked by a pair of single garage bays. The beachside face of the home, of course, is glass, glass, glass.
The interiors of the 2,808 square-foot, 3-bed house are likely much the same as they were forty years ago; the rocky fireplace accent wall is very period, and dominates the open-concept shared living area by extending through the second floor. Warm wood, exposed beams, and tile floors are other design elements figuring heavily in the home. The bedrooms culminate in an airy master suite; the bath features an alcove soaking tub capped by the clerestories of one roof light, a spot that looks particularly appealing.
The setting is typically idyllic Malibu Colony. Stilts allow the home spectacular ocean vistas from the extensive upper and lower decks, with abundant space for lounging and outside dining.
