Late this past summer, musician Kanye West purchased a ranch in Wyoming for $14 million. Two months later find him back in the Cowboy State, inking papers with his John Hancock to take ownership of another $14 million ranch. $14.5 million to be precise, but who’s counting.
Are the two ranches close together? Well, they don’t share a property line. But they’re not entirely, as the cowboys say, hell and gone from one another; the two properties are located in the adjacent northern Wyoming counties of Park and Big Horn; they’re separated by about 80 miles.
The property’s size registers in the thousands of acres—6,713 acres, to be precise. It contains multiple structures, with ‘cabins and lodges’, per the description, represented. Most appealing is the geographical situation of the property: it is ‘completely surrounded’ by protected public lands.
Crucially, West’s ranch controls most access to the 30,000 acres of public lands. Is Mr. West then setting up a pair of survivalist compounds in Northern Wyoming? Or is it just the privacy and restorative mountain air that beckons? The artist is reportedly building a 70,684-square-foot open-air amphitheater on his first property, sans electrical or plumbing. Perhaps a Coachella-style event is in the cards. As for this property, it may be used for the purpose of building residential structures.
Rumors abound, and surmise flourishes. It’s a nice spot, anyway. The photos should beguile, and could cause daydreaming to ensue.
