Jazz-pop chanteuse Norah Jones listed her brownstone townhouse in Brooklyn last week. Buying the Cobble Hill period charmer will run you in the neighborhood of $8 million, but what a bohemian dream it is.
Jones has owned the property since 2009; she paid $4.9 million for it, and embarked on an extensive renovation. The building dates to 1899, and features a brick exterior.
The interiors of the four-story townhome are extremely warm, with exposed brick, abundant and varied wood, and hand-painted tile expressing it. The kitchen features a teak island, a great deal of reclaimed wood, a tile backsplash, a fireplace, and exposed beams; it is floored in tile, and leads to a step-down dayroom with reclaimed timber floor that opens to the garden.
Other standout spaces of the 5-bed home include the master bath, which is executed in aquamarine; the blue tile extends to the second-floor terrace outside. But the gem may be the second-floor living area, which takes advantage of the unique staggered solarium-like 2-story series of windows that graces the rear of the building.
Jones’ most recent studio record is 2016’s ‘Day Breaks’; it was recorded live, and was critically acclaimed for its underproduced feel and lack of studio gloss.
