This month, bicycle designer and manufacturer Specialized revealed the newest entry in their top-tier ‘S-Works’ line: the S-Works Turbo Creo SL Founder’s Edition.
The appearance of the bike follows Specialized’s Turbo Creo SL, which was introduced last summer. The Founder’s version includes the same Specialized-designed SL 1.1 pedal-assisted motor, and a similarly astounding weight for a battery-equipped bicycle: 11.9kg versus the Turbo Creo SL’s 12.2kg. But, at 120 miles, the range of the Founder’s Edition bike represents a 50% improvement over the Turbo Creo SL.
The list of components included with the Founder’s Edition bike is impressive. Specialized’s FACT 11r carbon frame, S-Works Short and Shallow Bars, and Roval CLX 50 wheels with Turbo Cotton tires top the list. Gold-tinted embellishments on the CeramicSpeed pulley wheels and Founder’s Edition plaque provide a little well-heeled black-card bling to the overall look.
And the bike is—or was—expensive: $17K, with all 250 examples of the S-Works Turbo Creo SL Founder’s Edition sold in short order.
