Nestled in a picturesque mountain nook in Vail, Colorado, is this alpine retreat offered for sale by Lindsey Vonn. The retired competitive skier is asking $6 million for the property, which she’s called home for about four years.
Vonn is reportedly selling the 2001-built home for romance: according to People magazine, Vonn and fiancé P.K. Subban—a professional hockey player currently under contract with the New Jersey Devils—have gone in together on a new house in the Garden State.
It must be love, because this $6 million spot in the Gore Range is breathtakingly beautiful and absolutely private. The house boasts craftsman-inflected design elements, and the exterior is marked by contrasting mixed stone with dark wood and pattern accents.
The interiors are alpine through and through. The great room soars, with a wood cathedral ceiling, barn-style oak plank flooring, exposed beams, a colonial-style chandelier, and a majestic, two-sided centerpiece fireplace; it encompasses kitchen, dining room and living room, and is illuminated by series clerestories and oversize windows.
The house boasts five bedrooms and 6.5 baths in its nearly 7,050 square feet of living space. Amenities include a fitness room, a lower-floor entertainment room with stone fireplace and wet bar, and a heated driveway to ease winter travel. Views from nearly all rooms enhance the secluded, relaxing feel, with forested hills, mountains, and a creek all part of the landscape.
Vonn’s remarkable career included four World Cup championships. She retired in February.
