Action film producer Steven Chasman put his riviera-esque home in PacPal up for sale this month, hanging a great big price tag on the open listing: $16.9 million. Chasman has owned the place for over a dozen years, having purchased it in 2006 for $6.9 million.
The house dates to 1988, and blends southern Italian and French design cues into a Mediterranean rustic style that’s warm and eminently inviting. The motor court boasts a fountain centerpiece, and the entryway features a graduated series of arches, and is flanked by lantern sconces.
The interiors are spacious, warm, and bright. A white treatment is given complexity by nicely grained oak plank, and the living style is uncomplicated and optimistic. The living room is a gem: a bay window, French doors opening onto a patio, a vaulted raw wood ceiling, and a French fireplace define the cozy space. The kitchen’s green marble adds another dimension to the common living area.
A graceful switchback staircase leads to the upper floor, where a series of built-ins stands as a literate preamble to the six bedrooms the house has to offer. The master suite contains one of the six baths, as well as wood-framed glass pocket doors—a nice touch—that open to reveal a balcony with city and ocean views.
Chasman’s producer credits include the ‘Transporter’ franchise. He executive produced ‘Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw’, which is currently in theaters.
