Elon Musk Finds Buyer for Tasteful High Modern in L.A. at $3.9M

Elon Musk may have trimmed his real estate portfolio late this summer: the graceful modern home he listed on the open market last February is pending sale. Musk accepted an offer at $3.925 million for the property, which had been priced at just under $4.2 million prior to the home going off-market.

The 1959-built home projects a suitably private façade streetside. A lengthy entryway, flanked by the green of creeping vines, is presided over by assertive, intersecting planar lines. The rear of the home is expressed more extravagantly, with a long, sweeping curve that allows the glass walls to focus on the outdoor living space: covered and uncovered living areas, kidney-shaped saltwater pool, and elevated spa.

The interiors feature wide-plank oak floors that have seen a recent refinish in flat stain. The floors, cabinetry, and stacked granite accent walls and fireplace give the house very warm overtones; glass walls add the buoyancy of abundant natural light, and blur interior/exterior distinctions enough to suggest continuation. The gentle arc of the great room ceiling adds to the strong midcentury personality.

There are four bedrooms and 3.5 baths in the home’s 3,077 square feet of interior living space. The master features a glass wall, sliders opening onto the patio, and a private sitting area.
