Bodybuilder Lou Ferrigno picked up a hilltop home near Pismo Beach late this summer. Ferrigno paid $2.9 million for the property, which includes a former automotive workshop and boasts very good views of the coastline.
The 7,150 square foot home features Spanish-inflected exterior architecture, and is surrounded by a large pool and patio complex in checkerboard-pattern tile. The interiors are warm and open, and begin with a double-height foyer and a divided staircase that rises to the second floor; the staircase balustrade and double-door entry feature wrought iron, and floors are stone tile.
The kitchen features a pleasing mix of stylistic cues, mixing warm and neutral, and features a rustic open ceiling. It may be the most pleasing room in the house, and transitions to a living room on one side, and an open dining/family room with sliding glass and a fireplace on the other.
The five bedrooms and 4.5 baths include a master with a fireplace, private balcony, and sitting area. The master bath features tile that reprises the checkerboard pattern.
The home’s large outdoor living area features an outdoor bar, and is joined to the workshop by a footpath. The lot extends to 5.6 acres.
Ferrigno joined the cast of ‘The Incredible Hulk’ in 1978; the comic book-based series starred Bill Bixby.
