Jonah Hill Pays $6.8M for Monterey Colonial in Santa Monica

Jonah Hill’s newest real-estate acquisition is this Monterey Colonial-style in Santa Monica. What the two-time Oscar-nominated actor paid for the mid-century home is not yet a matter of public record. The property was listed on the open market at $7 million prior to the sale, and apparently last sold in 2011, when it fetched $2.85 million.

The 3,100 square-footer dates to 1950. The streetside impression is of an enormously appealing home very inspired by the Monterey colonial style, with a second-floor balcony across the façade, a brick front step, and a lovely frame of green and flowering.

Inside, the house blossoms into a unique space with more than one surprise along the way. The long galley kitchen gets a blue ribbon: colorful tile, a butcher block countertop, and a whopper of a Sub-Zero are among the space’s consolations; it terminates in a sash window on one end, and opens to a dayroom and diningroom linked with a brick pizza oven.

The living room features a dark execution—textured grey-blue wall covering, and a blue door and built-ins; the dining room features dark accents, but an otherwise open and reflective treatment. French doors open to the patio.

Hill may be seen in theaters right now in ‘Beach Bum’; the movie also stars Matthew McConaughey and Snoop Dogg.
