Actor-musician John Stamos picked up a slick contemporary Cape Cod-style home in Hidden Hills this month. Stamos paid $5.75 million for the property, which had been listed at $6 million prior to the sale.

The house is a recent build, and—like many other properties in the horse-friendly gated community of Hidden Hills—set up for the hobbyist equestrian. It’s a latter-day rambler with a somewhat eccentric layout: much of the place is single-story, but one section adds a level.

The traditional and contemporary design elements of the home are in direction proportion to one another; the home may be pleasingly familiar and cozy, but its open concept feel gives it an optimism to match its warmth. Glossy wide-plank floors, exposed beams, and a bevy of skylights keep the emphasis on classic and inspiring.

The 5,750 square-footer contains five bedrooms and six baths. The master boasts a fireplace, outdoor living area, and spacious master bath, and is suitably relaxing and escapist. But the heart of the home is the open shared living and dining area, which offers a marvelously expansive roof light and a series of doors and sliding glass that opens broadly to a semi-covered outdoor living area.

The exterior of the property is as generously proportioned, with a firepit/lounge, a pool, a BBQ station, and an outbuilding helping fill out the 1.34 acres of grounds.
