Bruce Willis Finds Buyer for Turks and Caicos Idyll at $27M

Bruce Willis sold his family retreat in Turks and Caicos quite quickly; the property that was listed early in the spring of this year for $33 million found a buyer with $27 million to fall in love with it by midsummer.

The property is an unusual one. With over seven acres of land supporting the sun-drenched R&R retreat, the house and grounds known simply as ‘The Residence’—the moniker suggesting singularity, as it is both the crown jewel of the little resort island, and the only private home—establishes a lilting waltz-time lifestyle rhythm of trade winds, sand beaches, tropical scruff and palms, and crystalline, turquoise water.

The interior living space of The Residence extends to 18,000 square feet, with eleven bedrooms and fourteen baths in the three homes on the beachfront lot. Willis had the property custom designed and built in the early 2000s, so the individual houses are all of a piece, stylistically.

Exteriors are expressed in naturally finished timber, a simple look that avoids grandiosity. The interiors are expressed in off-white, with the occasional cool tone sneaking in to augment the washed-out, beachy appeal. Airflow and space are paramount, with cathedral ceilings, many a retractable glass wall, and casement windows bringing an abundance of light and a constant refrain of continuation to the proceedings.

Willis’ other recent real estate maneuvers include the sale of his Idaho estate for $5.5 million; the property sold last autumn after a rather lengthy off-and-on market tenure: ten years.
