Mercedes-Benz just released pricing information for the 2020 GLS 580. The model will base sticker at ~$98K. That’s around $22,600 north of the new GLS 450.
To be sure consumers see where their extra twenty grand is going, Mercedes upped the power and look for the new model year. The 4.0-liter V8 engine features EQ Boost technology; the powertrain produces 483 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque, which will help it go over with tire-kickers.
Cosmetically, the big SUV features a winning blend of classic and contemporary styling. The graduated roofline is gracefully appealing to the eye, and corners are rounded just enough. The grille evokes a classic winged insignia, bringing the horizontal lines of the intakes and splitter into focus with incredible cohesion overall.
Buyers will also likely be drawn to the vehicle’s four-wheel-drive system and nine-speed automatic transmission. Additionally, the sporty SUV will easily be able to transition from paved streets to rocky roadways with side-to-side power transfer for off-road adventures.
Speaking of off-roading, customers can opt to add a special off-road package to the Mercedes-Benz GLS 580. The package includes advanced features like hill-descent control, a low range function, and specialized ABS and stability control tuning.
The refreshed GLS 580 will be available to purchase later in the year.
