Rapper, record producer, and business tycoon extraordinaire Dr. Dre recently listed his postmodern Los Angeles-area home for $5.25 million.
The music-industry mogul picked up the guard-gated Woodland Hills residence for $2.375 million in 1999. The mansion spans 16,000 square feet and holds eight en-suite bedrooms and 13 bathrooms, and mixes French manor, Mediterranean, and contemporary styles.
The home’s grand foyer with a sweeping central staircase that rises to a second-floor gallery; wood and apricot tones deliver a warm first impression. To the right is a spacious formal living room with a fireplace and French doors opening to the backyard. To the left of the staircase is the formal dining room fit for a table of at least 10 diners.
Further inside, the gourmet kitchen stands out with coffered ceilings, dark wood accents, and a large center island. The casual dining space is augmented with a 250-bottle wine cellar.
Amenities abound, of course, with a sauna, an in-floor spa, and a game room accented with a massive 150-gallon fish tank. Outside, the backyard boasts patios, lounge spaces, and an Olympic-length swimming pool.
