Porsche recently introduced its powerful new 2020 718 Cayman and 718 Spyder.
The German automaker’s updated Cayman boasts a more sporty, angular look, while the Spyder presents as a sleek, long-lined roadster.
Both 718s receive Porsche’s new 4.0-liter naturally aspirated flat six engine. The powerful setup was inspired by the new 911’s turbocharged engine, and even though it lacks the extra boost, these cars aren’t missing it. The efficient powerplant pumps out 414 horsepower and 309 pound-feet of torque, and is paired with a six-speed manual transmission.
The Spyder doesn’t lose much speed due to its design; both 718 models can sprint from zero to 60 mph in just 4.2 seconds, although the Cayman is a bit faster at reaching max speed. Both cars also feature updated suspension packages, and a finetuned mechanical limited-slip differential.
Production limits haven’t been announced yet, but the cars are available to pre-order now. The 718 Cayman GT4 starts at $100,450; the 718 Spyder stickers at $97,550.
