Retired New York Yankees outfielder Vernon Wells recently sold his Westlake, Texas, mansion to former Secretary of State Rex Tillerson for an undisclosed price.

Wells had the Vaquero golf community mansion custom built to taste in 2010. It doesn’t leave much out. The 16,238-square-foot manse is a genuine sprawler. It’s also packed to the rafters with high-end finishes and luxury touches; the grandiose design is peppered with stone columns, and includes as many palatial tropes as possible.

The spacious open-concept living area stands out with soaring ceilings, wood paneling, a coffered barrel ceiling, several fireplaces, and plenty of large windows and glass doors; a formal dining space and bar highlight the potential for entertaining in this house. The gourmet kitchen features exposed ceiling beams, custom cabinetry, and two islands. There are five bedrooms and 7.5 baths throughout the home’s winged design.

The two-acre property is situated on a private lake. A gym, a sport court, and an indoor batting cage are among the exterior amenities, as well as an outdoor kitchen and a swimming pool with a swim-up bar.

Prior to the sale, the property had been listed for as much as $10 million.
